Pedro 1, and represented the green of House Bragança (the reigning dinasty in Portugal) and the yellow of D. Leopoldina's house (She was D. Pedro's wife and princess of Austria). The green/forests, yellow/gold explanation is kind of a middle-school patriotic one :D<br />And, yes, Brazil is as beautiful as anything you find on the Internet tells you. It's not just tourist beautiful.
